Super Bowl, Go Hawks!

Anyone who knows me knows I am not a huge sports fan.

But this year I can’t help but join my local team and get excited for them. As I write this it is 2:48 local time.

Kick Off is coming and burgers are on the grill. The kids are all outside playing (thank god the weather cleared up.)

Being a native of Washington State, it is kind of inevitable that I would cheer for the Seahawks. My husband has chosen to go Broncos. He may not live through the Game. hehe

We are at my sisters place. Just a small gathering. I brought my computer thinking that if I get really bored with football I can keep working on Beast Within. (GASP?! Bored!?)

It was a nice thought. My youngest has decided that he is sick today. He crawled into bed with us this morning at 4:30 am and promptly threw up all over my bed. Yeah. Good Morning.

My husband slept through the entire thing. Right.

So after I cleaned up as much as I could without changing the sheets, (hubs was still sleeping so can’t change the bed) we snuggled down in and went back to sleep.

At least that was the plan.

Little Man had other plans.

He continued to be sick for the next 2 hours.

On the plus side, the hubs and I managed to come up with a plot clarifying thing for Beast Within. Which is a reason I was semi eager to be bored with Football…BUT my plans are foiled before they start.

I chalk it up to the football gods requiring that I sit on the couch with a toddler in my lap cheering on my Home Town Team.

And now it is 3:02

GO SEAHAWKS!

Long road to travel.

This morning I was up bright and early at 5 am.

I am not a morning person.

So why was I up so early? The hub started a new job this morning and I needed to take him to work. With only one car and him working a 10 hour shift it was decided that I should take him in case I had to go get the kids from school or had an emergency.

It is going to kill us for gas until we can find a place to live closer to where he is working. Thankfully the hours put him before traffic gets crazy on the way there and back so the trip only takes 30 minutes or so.

It is still a crazy long drive at 5 am.

Thinking about it got me thinking about the crazy long road I have chosen to take to become a full time writer of words and teller of stories.

I recently chatted with some folks on twitter about the author ad spam that is a constant stream through the feeds. I have chosen to stop doing any “major advertising” there. You should just get regular ol updates about my day and crap I am going through from now on.

Full Moon Station is doing great on Smashwords. I was really excited to make it available for free. You can still get it on Amazon for $0.99. I figure that is a good way for folks to help out if they like my work. Until I can get set up with a donate button at any rate. Just purchase a copy of FMS or Lost Hope on Amazon and all the money goes toward helping me get the edits paid for and ensures another book in the future.

I am working on getting an official “IniribaGreyMyst.com” set up so that I can do what I want with the page. Donate button, sneak peaks and a storefront for book and art purchases. Not to mention links to fun things that inspire me.

If you want to contact me, I have set up an email for fans and friends to be able to reach me.

iniribagreymyst@live.com

As soon as the website is done I will also have a mailing list you can sign up for.

Anyhow, that is it from me today.

Old Year/New Year

Here we are…

Just a few hours until 2013 is gone and we welcome 2014. I ditched the NYE party to come write and spend a bit of time with my two littlest ones. They are happily playing games and watching a movie, giving me the chance to get this out.

The past year has been a roller coaster of emotions for me.

I finished a novel and have it ready for edits. My family lost our home (through no fault of ours) and we are struggling to rise from the ashes of a bad experience.

My hopes and dreams for 2014 are to get 4 novels out to you all before this time next year. Only one of which is still in the planning stage. The rest have a minimum word count of about 23k. So, reasonable that I could get them all done.

I will be writing every day. I just need to get over the idea that I can write like a ‘full timer’ until I am able to get a nanny or housekeeper to do the things that require my attention as a mom and wife. I will also be doing a short video upload to my YouTube channel updating followers and friends of my daily progress. You all can help hold me accountable for my daily writing! hehe

The world of Shifters and Sorcery has really taken on a life of it’s own and I am getting really excited to share it with you. Many fun characters all interwoven in several novels. If you have not checked out Full Moon Station yet, it is available for free on Smashwords. Still waiting for amazon to price adjust the version there. I may just take it down altogether.

I hope you all have a wonderful New Years Eve!

Please stay safe. Don’t Drink and Drive. Hug your babies and family.

Best Wishes for 2014!

Holiday Cheer, Hard Times and STUFF.

The Holidays are here and things are pretty rough for this writer and her family.

We were recently displaced from our home of 8 years. It has been difficult to continue to write and get Lost Hope ready for release, but I refuse to allow depression to rear his Ugly head in my home. (Moros can get stuck back in the damn Jar!)

My husband and I have been working on promoting the Crowd Funding for Lost Hope at Pubslush.com

losthope.pubslush.com

We even managed to mess around and make a cover through KDP that we really like as a fall back if I am unable to negotiate art with someone I feel is a good fit for the series.

Even through all the rough, there has been a ray of sunshine. A candle in the dark. A star on the tree.

It is easy to get caught up in the season. The mad rush to get STUFF for everyone you love. The drive to get the perfect gift for that special someone in your life to show how much you really love them.

Kids eyes light up when they think of all the STUFF they will get and all the STUFF that they want.

As nice as those things are, as nice as it is to have the newest STUFF…I have never felt more blessed NOT to have all the STUFF.

Being able to spend quality time with my children and not feel like I am lacking as a parent because I have not bought them the newest video game or my teen a new iPhone.

My kids enjoying DOING THINGS rather than GETTING STUFF.

Sitting with my 11 year old and helping him work on his book that he wants to write or playing with the family dog with the youngest ones has been the most rewarding thing for me this holiday season.

Stepping out of the tech covered world we live in and getting back to more important things like family and love. Ignore the call of the Electronics and create with the people who are closest to you.

Don’t let anything get you down. Keep yourself Joyful and everyone around you will reflect the Joy you show!

Happy Holidays and Merry Christmas!

Rewritten: a writers life.

Most authors who have been in ‘the biz’ for a while all seem to agree…

Writing is rewriting.

And rewriting,
And rewriting again until you have what might be a possible epic masterpiece if you rewrite it again.

I understand this now.

When I launched the crowd fund for Lost Hope the first time, I was over eager to share something that was just not ready. I felt it as I went over the manuscript again. So I made the choice to pull it from funding. Better to back up and get right that send it through before it was ready.

I am really glad I did! The rewrite was very much needed. I switch the entire stories point of view from first person to third person. We still read from Hope’s point of view, but from outside rather than inside.
The beta readers agree, It reads much better.

I hope that people like the story enough to help get the editing needed to make it a truly kick ass story!

If you want to help head to LostHope.pubslush.com and find a donation level that works for you!

Here is the picture I found to describe Lost Hope! Fun!

LostHope.pubslush.com is live!

There it is! LostHope.pubslush.com is live. The crowd funding to help get this first book in the series edited and a kick ass cover created is underway.

This entire journey has been amazing. Each step bringing me closer to my dream of being a published author has been a learning experience.

Some days have been hard.

Being so excited about sharing the story but needed to take a step back and honestly say “It’s not ready yet.”

I want to give you all the best stories I have to offer. In order to do that, the book needs an editor.

Thankfully, I have found one that can have Lost Hope ready for a March release date! That is super awesome!

Thanks again everyone who takes the time to read my rambles. It really means a great deal to have such great support so early in my career as a writer.

Stay awesome.

Relaunching the Pubslush crowd funding for Lost Hope!

All right ladies and gentlemen! You have been waiting patiently and I am greatful!
Lost Hope crowd fund will launch on Monday, December 9th and go for 30 days.

I am looking to raise at least $700 dollars with my goal amount at $2,000.
That will cover editing costs and cover art as well as print copies.

Any funds over the goal will be used to continue the series and allow me to get another kick ass book out to you guys.
I know I have posted some of the book here, but you will be pleasantly surprised with the rewrite.

Lost Hope was written in the first person point of view of Hope Aries, the daughter of War and Peace.
I changed it to third person and it is so much better to read! I am really happy with how it has turned out. The beta readers have said it is a big improvement as well.

So mark your calandars! Monday December 9th!

NaNoWriMo Update

Well,

Here we are. Ten days in. How much NaNoWriMo words have I written this month?

Zero.

Yup. None. But All is not lost!

I have not been idle. I have been working hard getting Lost Hope ready for a 1st Edition release. That just means that I will do my best to get the book edited and such myself then relaunch the crowd funding with some minor adjustments to the rewards offered.

When that is complete I will be able to send out to an editor using the funds from the CF as well as any profits made from sales. That ensures a better book for second edition AND makes a collector item for those who purchase it as a 1st Edition!

Everyone says as long as you have a great story that doesn’t read like it was written by a third grader, you can be successful as an indie writer.

Well, I am about to test that later this week. Thank you everyone for your continued support!

And it Begins!

November 1, 2013

Launch Day.

In The Mouth of Madness (hehe appropriate that movie is about a writer!)

NaNoWriMo has officially been going for 10 hours and 18 minutes.

Are you participating this year? Pantser? Plotter?

Last year was my first NaNo. I had a blast! For the first time in years of wanting to be a writer, I finished a draft. All the way. It was the best feeling in the world!

I strongly recommend it to anyone who has dreams of being a writer but can’t seem to move that one step closer to completing a piece. The whole process teaches you so much about your own personal writing style, when you work best, What motivates you to write and more.

Last year I learned that the best time for me to write was at night after my kids have gone to bed. I learned that no matter how many books on writing you may read, there is no One True Way with writing. What works for me may drive you up a wall and you would never manage the 1667 words per day needed to reach the 50,000 word goal that is NaNoWriMo.

When do you write best?

I’ll be doing daily posts as well as a vLog every night after writing is done. Hope to see your comments!

Are you starting to panic yet? NaNoPrep talk.

National Novel Writing Month is only a few days away!

I must admit, I am getting a little nervous. This year is going to be especially difficult because we are in the process of moving to a new house.

Add the Crazy of the Holidays plus Packing/ Unpacking (Yes that gets a Capital letter) while juggling 6 boys, one 80lb black lab, two senior citizens (my parents) and a Husband with various daily life schedules…Well, if you see a mushroom cloud over Western Washington, that is me and not the mountain or a bomb of some type.

I do plan on making it through NaNoWriMo. If I can write a novel this November without my eyeballs exploding or someone in my family dying, well then, there will be no more excuses for me NOT to be successful at this writing thing.

I know over the past year I have had many rambles of various things on the blog, but I always come back to writing and my journey to make a go of it. I try and post interesting things that other ‘would be writers’ and even established writers may find funny, interesting or helpful. Seeing how someone else made the journey helps you learn what you may or may not want to do on your own way.

Getting my butt in my chair is the hardest part for me.

I don’t know if that is a common writer problem or just an Iniriba problem, but there it is. My biggest issue with getting things written.

The moment I sit down I am either interrupted or think of something that HAD to be done RIGHT NOW. Mind you, it is usually not something that NEEDED to be done by ME, but as any mom can attest, sometimes it is just easier to do it yourself…

In between all the things that have to be done when moving from one place to another, I am doing my NaNoPrep. Packing does not take much brain power so it allows me plenty of time to go through different plot ideas I have had spinning in my head this past year.

When I get to the point in an idea that I need to write it down or lose it, I take a break, grab the pen and notebook every writer had within arms reach of them and write down everything I hashed out as I packed. Now I have a good stack of notes for the book and am about ready to outline everything 😀

Last years Nano taught me that I write best at night after everyone is asleep (or suppose to be anyway) so the plan is to do that again this year. The only foreseeable issue is going to be making sure I have munchies.

So there you have it. I guess this year will be the deciding factor in exactly how serious I am about this ‘writing for a career’ thing. Thankfully I am blessed with an entire family that wants to see me succeed at this as much as I do.

Hope you all have a happy NaNoWriMo!
